China Science’s patent service covers technical fields such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and biotechnology. The patent group advises on drafting and prosecution of patent applications, reexamination, invalidation and appeals, judicial and administrative litigations, counselling on corporate IP management, infringement and invalidity, patent search and patent watch, and technology licensing and transfer.

China Science is led by senior partner and Chairman of the Board, Liyan Zhang, a patent attorney and authorised patent litigator, and a Doctor of Judicial Science. China Science has over 300 professionals and staff, including 160 patent agents, with 18 legally qualified. 85 professionals have been working at China Science for more than 10 years.
Each patent agent has a science or engineering degree, 17% have a PhD degree and 80% a Master's degree in a technical discipline. Over 30% have R&D experience from universities, research institutes and industry before legal practice. Ten patent attorneys were senior research fellows at the Chinese Academy of Sciences before the firm was formed in 1984.
