Polsinelli adds ex-Armstrong Teasdale tech expert

Latest addition brings electrical and software tech expertise to St. Louis | Specialises in acquisitions, licensing, enforcement, and product clearance | Experience in patent portfolio management in the healthcare sector.

Polsinelli has added Zachary Block as a shareholder in its St. Louis office.

Block joins the firm's Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Patent Prosecution division, after almost a decade at Armstrong Teasdale.

His arrival in St. Louis is part of a broader expansion of Polsinelli’s IP practice, which recently welcomed new hires including Brian Larivee in Boston, David Hsu and Kendall Gurule in Denver, and William (Bill) Di Bianca and Jordan Riviello in New York.

Block focuses his practice on acquisitions, licensing, enforcement, and product clearance.

As a registered patent attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office, he is involved in preparing and prosecuting patents both in the US and internationally.

Gregory Durbin, chair of Polsinelli’s Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Patent Prosecution, was “thrilled” to welcome Block.

“His ability to collaborate closely with businesses to craft tailored IP strategies and robust patent portfolios will make him an asset to our clients,” he added.

Block has experience in various electrical and software technologies, such as autonomy systems, medical devices, electric motors, electronics, power systems, computing, and algorithms.

He has worked in many industries, including animal care products, agricultural equipment, electronic gaming, and oil and gas exploration.

In the healthcare sector, Block has managed complex patent portfolios for technologies like cardiac catheters, heart pumps, implantable medical devices, pharmaceutical software, and imaging technologies such as MRI and CT scans.

Commenting on the move, Block said: “I look forward to bringing to bear Polsinelli’s great resources for my clients, and to augment the excellent service they are delivering every day for their clients.”
