Baker & McKenzie adds to Mexico office

Baker & McKenzie LLP has bolstered its Mexican team with the appointment of Martin Castella as chair of its patent practice.

Castella, who has practised in Mexico for more than 17 years, joins the Mexico City office.

He will provide advice on processing trademarks, patents and copyright, in Mexico and across Latin America.

The firm said Castella would bring “extensive experience” to its IP group on areas including the preparation and filing of patent applications, industrial designs and utility models.

Andrés Bünsow, managing partner in Mexico, said the appointment would contribute to the firm's growth strategy and “reiterates” its commitment to offer the highest quality services.

“His leadership and knowledge will contribute to our positioning and the expansion of our IP practice in Mexico and Latin America," Bünsow added.

Castella is the current president of the Patent Committee of the Mexican Association for the Protection of IP.
