Ericsson has secured the support of the former director of the US Trademark and Patent Office Andrei Iancu, Senator Thom Tillis and former Federal Circuit Judge Paul Michel, in its international standard-essential patents (SEP) dispute with Samsung.

3 January 2018 A US judge has handed down a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory licence for standard-essential patents in a high-profile quarrel between telecoms company Ericsson and TCL, a China-based smartphone maker.
7 May 2021 Ericsson and Samsung have agreed a cross-licensing deal which will end all outstanding patent litigation between them over cellular technologies.
