The firm operates three offices in each of China’s key commercial hubs: Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Within the Beijing and Shanghai teams, approximately 20 lawyers are qualified in the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the UK, Hong Kong, Australia and other jurisdictions. They work with lawyers in the firm’s Hong Kong office, specialising in China-related transactions.
Most lawyers in China and Hong Kong speak fluent Mandarin and some speak other regional Chinese dialects.

More than 100 lawyers, agents, paralegals and staff make up Norton Rose’s global trademarks and brands team, and are located in commercial centres on five continents.
Handling all aspects of trademark law, the team collaborates to provide coordinated advice on brand portfolio management and protection, and on transactional matters involving trademarks and design rights.
Examples of work includes anti-counterfeiting counselling and enforcement, including customs seizures; internet, domain and social media issues; litigation and alternative dispute resolution; security interests and other agreements; trademark, designs and brands transactions and licensing; and unfair competition issues.
Partner Justin Davidson, based in Hong Kong SAR, heads the intellectual property team in Asia, and co-writes the firm’s Brand Protection Blog. The overall IP practice is led by London-based Mike Knapper, head of intellectual property, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
