Team overview:
Dragon Wang is the founding and managing partner of SITAO. He is a patent attorney and a patent litigator. Wang advised on patent matters in various industries and technical areas, including automotive, semi-space, wireless technologies, and the Internet of Things. He handles the full spectrum of patent-related work, including prosecution, re-examination, invalidation actions and civil litigations, with a focus on patent monetisation.
Bing Wu is a partner at Sitao and is qualified as a patent litigator and patent attorney. At Sitao he handles a full range of patent dispute related matters, including invalidation actions, and administrative and civil litigations, and he is particularly experienced in handling FRAND/SEP lawsuits.
Yannan Li is a partner and licensing executive at Sitao. He focuses on patent monetisation, particularly patent licencing and transactions for domestic firms and leading global IP monetisation companies.
Chuanshu Xu is a partner at Sitao. She specialises in IP litigation involving enforcement of patent rights, validity review for patents, wireless communication-related standard essential patents licensing and anti-monopoly dispute. She has experience before all levels of the China People’s courts.
Key matters:
- The Supreme People’s Court of China delivered a landmark ruling in the codec Standard Essential Patent licensing dispute involving Advanced Codec Technologies against OPPO/Vivo. The Sitao team, representing ACT, secured victories in both the first and second instance litigations.
- Sitao represented Datang Mobile Communications Equipment Co., Ltd. maintaining successfully the validity of 4G/LTE Standard Essential Patents. These SEPs, which are essential to the 4G/LTE standard and critical to realisation of carrier aggregation and random access, which are key technologies in 4G/LTE, were challenged by Samsung (China) Investment Co., Ltd.
- The Supreme People’s Court issued an administrative judgment (2022) No. 367, revoking the first instance administrative judgment of the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, in which Sitao team represented Shenzhen Goodix Technology Co., Ltd. in successfully overturning the case in the second instance procedure and winning the final victory in administrative litigation.
- The Beijing Intellectual Property Court issued (2023) Jing 73 Xingchu No. 534 Administrative Judgment, ruling to reject the claims of Egis Technology Inc. . Sitao’s team assisted Shenzhen Goodix Technology Co., Ltd. to win the first-instance administrative litigation after winning the patent invalidation at PRB.
- Sitao team represented Ox Mobile Technologies LLC to successfully maintain the validity of the 4G/LTE standard essential patent, which was challenged by Xiaomi Communication Technology Co., Ltd.
