Daren Tang, the former head of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), now leads the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

In November 2024, he introduced an inaugural two-day conference, Global Research Experts Meeting on Improving Gender and Diversity in Intellectual Property (IP) and Innovation, at WIPO’s headquarters in Geneva. The meeting emerged from the organisation’s IP and Gender Action Plan (IPGAP), which aims to identify the scope and nature of the gender gap in innovation. The November meeting emphasised the importance of data, collaboration, and practical solutions to empower women in IP.
