Sunny Su

With over 20 years of experience in IP, Sunny Su serves numerous well-known multinational companies across the media and publishing, film and entertainment, technology, advertising, internet, fast-moving consumer goods, and agricultural sectors.

She specialises in IP-related commercial matters, including technology import and export, IP transfer and licensing, franchising, non-compete, and commercialisation. Su also provides legal counsel to international clients on cross-border e-commerce and social media platforms, offering advice on private traffic, marketing, endorsements, and advertising compliance. 

Her team recently secured a landmark Supreme People’s Court victory for EnzaFruit in a plant variety rights (PVR) infringement case, with the court awarding RMB 3.3 million ($454 million) in damages and ordering the destruction of illegally propagated plant materials. 

Lusheng successfully leveraged China’s revised ‘Seed Law’ to achieve a rare punitive damages award, effectively doubling the illegal revenues generated by the infringer. The ruling also clarifies the scope of PVR protection, extending it to harvested fruit and setting a precedent for both domestic and international PVR holders.
