Nordemann
Firm overview:
IP and IT law firm Nordemann Czychowski & Partner was set up in January, 2019, when founding partners Prof. Dr. Axel Nordemann (56), Prof. Dr. Jan Nordemann (54), Prof. Dr. Christian Czychowski (50) and Dr. Anke Nordemann-Schiffel (50) and six associates and three research assistants split from Boehmert & Boehmert in Potsdam and Berlin. The firm is effectively Nordemann 2.0 as the firm was originally set up by Wilhelm Nordemann in West Berlin preunificaton and became a leading copyright and competition firm before merging with Boehmert & Boehmert in 1990. Retaining the firm’s family connections, siblings Axel, Jan and Anke Nordemann are the children of Nordemann 1.0 founder Wilhelm.
Nordemann focuses on high-end litigation and has been involved in landmark cases under German and EU law. The firm advises many industry leaders in licensing matters. Nordemann advises clients on trademark law from advice and research prior to a trademark filing to filing applications for German, European and international registries, to judicial and extrajudicial enforcement of trademark rights in case of trademark infringements. Peers spontaneously mention the new entity as hitting the ground running and being a rising force in the German IP market. “They are very strong in trademark portfolio management, enforcement, prosecution and litigation,” says one. The firm has quickly built a household roster of leading firms including an international streaming service.
