Springbird IP
Firm overview:
Clients recommend the newly launched boutique firm Springbird IP “without a shadow of a doubt”. Founded with the intention of moving away from a one size fits all approach and providing a cost-conscious, transparent service, the team works with popular brands Gymshark, Fevertree and protein-based food company Huel. Chosen by a number of its clients, the firm offers an annual subscription model covering routine portfolio management, searching and filing as well as ad-hoc and strategic advice. In its short lifespan, Springbird has worked with established brands in the food and drink, lifestyle and apparel sectors, leaving clients feeling like the work “matters to [the firm]”.
The Springbird team handles opposition and cancellation proceedings as well as engaging in negotiations with an aim to resolve matters quickly and cost-effectively. Firm highlights include obtaining settlements of multi-jurisdictional disputes for industry-leading clients and recovering damages in relation to counterfeit products. Given its size, and the number of team members handling the portfolios of its clients, Springbird has won an impressive client list and working alongside A-list brands the firm is quickly establishing itself with a different offering.
Team overview:
Launched by Laura West in February 2023, the team has grown from five to seven attorneys and paralegals, including recent hires from highly-ranked trademark teams at Taylor Wessing and Boult Wade Tennant. West is “driven”, says a client, “she is literally at the end of the phone if you need her and her advice is good and pragmatic.” The trademark and design attorney’s experience includes more than a decade of assisting clients with the protection and enforcement of their IP rights.
