Dehns
Firm overview:
IP firm Dehns employs more than 260 people across offices in eight locations, including London, Munich and Oslo. The trademarks team registers marks before the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices (IPOs) and files international registrations under the Madrid Protocol. Other services include due diligence, monitoring and franchising. The firm also offers guidance for UK-based SMEs that want to use the UKIPO’s financial support scheme IP Advance, launched in July 2024, which provides funding in relation to IP audits.
Dehns is a trusted advisor to many clients in instances of infringement, and when the need to initiate or defend oppositions arises.
Team overview:
Head of trademarks Elaine Deyes is singled out to take on complex prosecution work in the UK and further afield. She works with a diverse range of clients, from individuals to major corporations, with significant international trademark portfolios, and has undertaken major strategic reviews as part of global re-branding projects.
Six months into his training as a patent attorney, Dehns partner Philip Towler was given the opportunity to branch out in trademarks and he has “never regretted it”. An unusual case he worked on 20 years ago involved helping a client register the colour turquoise per se, based on evidence of use.
Clients:
Avon Cosmetics, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, Doosan Machine Tools, YETI
