UK Trademarks 2025

Ionic Legal

Firm overview:

A new player for 2024 in the UK trademarks legal market, Ionic Legal was established by two former IP heads at Foot Anstey, who used an incubator programme from Excello Law which provides a “set-up solution” for lawyers looking to form their own practice. The Manchester-based firm acts for a wide range of businesses including Moonpig, Babyliss, Wise Payments, Nextbase, and Fred Perry, with a focus on international clients. Ionic has a substantial trademarks filing practice and handles the trademark portfolios for a number of US-based globally famous celebrities.

The firm is particularly known for its expertise in anti-counterfeiting and IP litigation, often going head-to-head with large national and international firms on the other side of its matters and winning clients who previously instructed these bigger competitors.

Team overview:

Well-regarded among peers, Ionic founders Roy Crozier and Paul Cox are “practical, experienced and very commercial”, says a fellow industry member. “They have a great deal of experience in handling trademark portfolios and dealing with complex trademark matters.” Cox manages the trademark and design filing practice across the offices in Manchester and London.
