Seyfarth Shaw - US Trademark Rankings 2023
Firm Overview:
Seyfarth’s trademark prosecution attorneys have handled the preparation and prosecution of thousands of trademark applications around the world, and are counsel of record for the owners of many well-known trademarks and service marks. Seyfarth has developed an online matter tracking, reporting, and document management tool for clients’ global trademark prosecution and portfolio management.
Seyfarth’s multi-office trademark litigation team helps clients protect and maintain intellectual property value through trademark, false advertising and unfair competition litigation. The team’s litigators have experience in federal and state courts, before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, and other federal and state agencies, as well as working with US Customs.
Team Overview:
Edward Maluf co-chairs Seyfarth’s global Intellectual Property Practice Group and chairs the firm’s Hispanic Affinity Group. Maluf is an IP litigator, prosecutor, and counsellor. He assists clients with a diverse array of engagements, including obtaining, enforcing and defending their IP rights, as well as transactional matters in connection with acquisitions of portfolios and licensing. An appreciative client says: “Ed and his team are not only knowledgeable in their field, but they are also approachable and easy to work with. They take the time to listen to our concerns and questions, and they are always responsive and prompt in their communications. Their commitment to us as their clients is truly exceptional, and it is evident in the quality of work they produce.”
Ken Wilton is Seyfarth’s national Trademark Practice lead and co-chair of the national Advertising & Marketing Group. Active on the prosecution and litigation sides of trademark law, Wilton has tried over a dozen cases before the TTAB and recently successfully defended a trademark counterfeiting jury trial in federal court. Beginning his career as a litigator, Wilton regularly litigates copyright, patent and related IP cases in federal court. In June 2023, the group recruited trademark prosecution and transaction attorney Matthew Moersfelder from Davis Wright Tremaine with a mission to establish Seyfarth’s IP practice in Seattle.
