Dentons China advises clients on trademark portfolio management, filing strategies, and prosecution, working closely with Dentons’ offices and preferred agents to secure trademarks internationally. Dentons’ prosecution work covers industries such as retail, entertainment, software and internet. Dentons litigates trademark matters before courts and arbitration forums, including trademark prosecution and defending trademark infringement, and ex parte and inter partes proceedings before the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The team works closely with the corporate, finance, capital market and other practice groups.
Dentons recently announced that it will be ending its merger with local law firm Dacheng following new regulations from the Chinese Government.
Team Overview:
Christopher Zhang (Zhang Yong), senior partner in Dentons’ Shenzhen office, and Chinese Intellectual Property and Technology group board member, has established a team of intellectual property lawyers. Zhang successfully assisted Chinese companies on trademark litigation matters in the United States. He helped toy maker E-Scenery reach a favourable settlement in Creative Impact v E-Scenery, Northern District Court of Illinois, an Amazon platform trademark infringement claim.
Wang Fang, a qualified patent and trademark agent, practiced at several local firms in Shanghai. Wang advises enterprises on their development in China, especially on IP matters. She manages trademark prosecution under the Madrid System, trademark disputes, trademark infringement litigation, and is experienced on complex cases. Her clients include: Huangpu District government, China Construction Bank, China Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, HuaAn Funds, Lao Feng Xiang, Kitco, Gu Wenda studio, FB Rice, Hiroe and Associates, NXP, and Hella.
