Allen & Overy
Firm Overview:
Magic circle firm Allen & Overy launched in China in 1993 as one of the first international firms to register an office in Beijing, and now also has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong. The full-service firm takes advantage of its international footprint of 200 IP partners worldwide to care for its foreign clients in China, including Fortune 500 companies. A&O’s (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone venture with Shanghai Lang Yue Law Firm, approved by the Shanghai Bureau of Justice in 2019, created Allen & Overy Lang Yue (FTZ) Joint Operation Office. The venture allows A&O to provide full legal services, including trademark litigation, in China. A&O’s clients benefit from the collaboration as the joint operation team takes on inbound work from international clients and advises on trademark protection, enforcement and licensing.
Team Overview:
Shanghai-based Jill Ge, promoted to partner in 2022, is experienced in trademark litigation and licensing matters. Ge is admitted to the New York Bar and is qualified (non-practising) in China. She advises multinationals on cross-border IP disputes and transactions and has written broadly on IP developments in China.
