Founded in London, Clifford Chance opened its first Asia-Pacific (APAC) office in 1980, in Hong Kong, followed swiftly by an office in Singapore in 1981. The firm has since built a significant presence in the region and now operates from seven offices in four Asia Pacific countries.

These include Beijing (1985) and Shanghai (1993); Tokyo (1987); and Sydney and Perth (2011). In other APAC countries where the firm does not have offices (Australia, India, Indonesia, and Thailand), Clifford Chance maintains close working relationships with local law firms.

Many Clifford Chance IP lawyers are long-standing members of the firm’s sector focus groups such as life sciences, TMT and consumer goods and retail. A two-pronged focus on product and sector enables a consistently high standard of knowledge-sharing across the global group.
