Turner Boyd Seraphine

Firm overview:

Turner Boyd was founded in 2008 by Julie Turner and Karen Boyd, who sought to provide an alternative offering to the ‘Big Law’ model—of which they each had more than a decade of experience. The firm changed its name in 2023 with the addition of named partner Jennifer Seraphine, a former partner in Jones Day’s IP group. Turner Boyd Seraphine (TBS) maintains a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion and flexibility.

The team represents major companies in complex IP and tech-related disputes, routinely facing off in court against the likes of Kilpatrick Townsend, Knobbe Martens, Quinn Emanuel and Wilson Sonsini.

“All they do is IP litigation,” says a highly regarded industry peer who regularly refers matters to the firm. TBS has deep experience in the district courts that most frequently see patent litigation, including the Eastern and Western districts of Texas, Delaware, and the Northern District of California.

Team overview:

Founding partner Karen Boyd focuses her practice on patent disputes and her clients range from solo inventors to Fortune 100 companies. A former Fish & Richardson partner, Boyd was also a law clerk to Judge Paul Michel at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and has substantial expertise in mediation.

TBS has been growing, with additions in 2024 including counsel Frederick Hadidi and associate Victoria Moffa.
